Nikki realised she was part of a scamming operation just before she was due to hand £4,000 over to a courier. She had received a phonecall from a man purporting to be a chief detective inspector saying someone was trying to use her credit card details but, on withdrawing the money, she had a revelation, hid it in a neighbour’s needlework box, and called the police who arrested the courier.

I thought as I left the house, that maybe there was somebody looking a bit dodgy standing about outside. So I didn’t go back to my house, I went to my neighbour’s instead, and I used her telephone to ring the police and hid the money in her needlework box.
