Support for children and young people

Victim Support West Yorkshire offers a number of services for children and young people (CYP) aged 17 and under. This includes caseworkers and specialists in domestic abuse and sexual violence.

We currently have three CYP caseworkers working across West Yorkshire. They provide a specialist one-to-one service to anyone aged 4-17 years who’s been affected by crime across the region.

Our CYP caseworkers can give support including:

  • Signposting the young person to appropriate services
  • Addressing any particular anxieties and concerns
  • Making sure support is available in school or college
  • Liaising with social care or other relevant services to make sure support is in place where possible
  • Supporting parents/carers to help them to support their child.

A CYP DA Caseworker provides specialist end-to-end support to all children and young people who have experienced or are experiencing domestic abuse across West Yorkshire.

They act as the single point of contact for young victims throughout their recovery process, delivering support and interventions on a one-to-one basis.

Our CYP CHISVAs can give support including:

  • Signposting the young person to appropriate services
  • Addressing any particular anxieties and concerns
  • Making sure support is available in school or college
  • Liaising with social care or other relevant services to make sure support is in place where possible
  • Supporting parents/carers to help them to support their child
  • Support the victim if they have to attend court. This will include before, during and after a trial.
