Victim Support has been named the UK’s third best employer for LGBTQ+ people, also ranking top in Wales and first among not-for-profit organisations – according to LGBTQ+ equality charity, Stonewall.

This is the 12th year Victim Support has taken part in Stonewall’s Workplace Equality Index, which evaluates employers’ commitment to creating an inclusive work environment for lesbian, gay, bi, trans and queer people.

With many staff working from home throughout the pandemic, the charity has remained committed to creating opportunities for LGBTQ+ staff, volunteers and allies to socialise, support one another and raise awareness about the experiences and challenges faced by the community.

Diana Fawcett, Chief Executive at Victim Support said:

“We are extremely proud to have been ranked the third best employer for LGBTQ+ people in Stonewall’s annual Workplace Equality Index – as well as the top non-for-profit organisation and the best employer in Wales.

“The values of equality, diversity and inclusion are firmly embedded in the fabric of our organisation, and we work hard to ensure they are reflected in the everyday experience of every one of our staff and volunteers. As we strive to deliver the best possible service for victims of crime, it is also vital that our workforce reflects the diversity of the individuals and communities we support.

“It is fantastic to see this work recognised, and we will continue to do all we can to make sure that our LGBTQ+ staff and volunteers feel included, supported and can bring their whole selves to work.”
