We must work to end male violence against women and girls

Diana Fawcett, Chief Executive at independent charity Victim Support, said: “We’re incredibly concerned by the developments in the Sarah Everard investigation and our thoughts are with her friends and family, and all those affected by her disapperance. For many women, Sarah’s disappearance has triggered their own personal experiences of harassment and assault.
“Now more than ever we must work to end male violence against women and girls. No woman should feel afraid of harassment or violence when walking down the street.
“Our Supportline has been receiving calls from those affected by sexual harassment, and we encourage women and anyone affected to do the same. We are independent of the police and can provide you with advice and guidance, practical help and emotional support for as long as you need it.
“Anyone seeking professional support can contact Victim Support’s 24/7 Supportline on 0808 16 89 111 or use our live chat services via the website, www.victimsupport.org.uk/live-chat.”
