Victim Support responds to rise in sexual assaults in Gloucestershire

26 July 2016

Sara Vaughan, Services Director for independent charity Victim Support in Gloucestershire, said:

“Sexual assault can have a devastating and long lasting impact on people’s lives and it is vital that victims who come forward are treated with respect and given high quality support every step of the way through the criminal justice system.

“The police recently recorded that sexual offences have risen across the whole country and that almost half of this rise directly relates to offences against children, a deeply concerning trend.

“If anyone has been affected by this type of crime, you can get help from Victim Support. The charity offers free and confidential support, simply call our supportline on 0808 281 0112 or get in touch via our website victimsupport.org.uk.”
