Continued fall in homicide, gun and knife crime welcome but rise in theft, antisocial behaviour and fraud concerning – Victim Support responds to the latest ONS crime statistics

"A fall in violent crime including knife homicides is very welcome, but every death is one too many. Murder and manslaughter destroy lives and shatter families and communities. Behind every statistic is a life lost and countless friends and family facing unimaginable grief.

"With fraud cases rising by 10% in just 12 months, the government must step up its efforts to tackle this type of crime.
