The inaugural national Day for Victims and Survivors of Terrorism takes place on Friday 21 August. Marking the day, Victim Support CEO Katie Kempen said:
“On the first National Day for Victims and Survivors of Terrorism we stand shoulder to shoulder with all those who have been affected by terrorism. Today is an opportunity to remember, to reflect, and to recognise those who have experienced the impact of terrorism. It sends a powerful message that those affected by terrorism are not forgotten.
“It’s important to recognise the determination and courage of the victim-survivors who have campaigned for stronger support and recognition, and for this day to be established. Their work has helped drive meaningful change and has ensured that the voices of victim-survivors are heard.
“We also know that today will be a difficult day for many people. Victim Support is proud to deliver specialist support through our Support Hub, alongside our dedicated partners. Anyone affected by terrorism – including victim-survivors, families and professionals – can contact us via our website or call our free helpline on 08 08 16 89 111. Support is always available.”
