Initial Response Officer - Bournemouth

Victim Support is looking to recruit an initial response officer to be based in our Bournemouth office. The working hours are full time, 37.5 per week, to be worked in agreement with your line manager. 

This role offers a first point of contact for victims of crime who call us for support, or are referred into our services by another agency. We are therefore looking for a motivated individual, who is passionate about helping people, to join our high performing initial response team.

You will contact victims by telephone, text and letter to discuss the impact of crime and to explore their needs.  You will record the results of the needs assessment and will provide a tailored response to each victim’s needs. You will also identify risk and safety factors, and will support the delivery of needs by referring on to Victim Support’s community response team or other appropriate external services. You will have experience of delivering a service in a statutory, voluntary, community or private social care setting and working to agreed standards and procedures.

You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills. You will know how to deal sensitively with challenging and emotionally charged situations, demonstrating empathy and controlling your own emotions.

The working hours are generally 9.00am to 5.00pm or 10.30am to 6.30pm Monday to Fridays, with at least one late finish each week. 

On successful completion of a six month probationary period your salary will increase to £18,500 per annum.

The successful applicant will need satisfactory clearance of an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS) and police vetting. 

The closing date for this vacancy is 10.00am on Monday 6 June 2016. Interviews are scheduled to take place on Thursday 16 June 2016.
