Racist crimes
Racist incidents can include: insults, threats, graffiti, damage to your property, bullying or physical attacks. You may be the victim of a single racist incident or may suffer ongoing harassment over a period of time.
Victim Support believes that your view of what has happened is important. We know that the effects may last for some time, especially if you have suffered repeatedly. If you think that you have been the victim of a racist crime or incident, Victim Support can help immediately afterwards, or at a later time. You do not have to report what has happened to the police.
We provide emotional support, information and practical help. We offer someone to talk to in confidence. If we do not have someone who speaks your language, we will try to provide an interpreter.
We can supply information about the police and court procedures, and if necessary can arrange for volunteers to accompany you to the police station and to court. We can also liaise with other organisations on your behalf if you want us to, and we can put you in touch with other sources of practical help, such as help with removing graffiti.
