A look around an empty courtroom
An explanation of procedure
A general look at court facilities including the private waiting room
An opportunity to ask questions about the process.
On the day When you arrive at the court, ask for the Witness Service. We will:
Show you a private waiting room should you wish to use one
Answer any questions you may have about procedure and practical matters
Ensure you receive a copy of your statement to read and your expense claim form.
Our volunteers will be available to assist and support you throughout the day.
During the trial While you are giving your evidence, the Witness Service volunteer will, if you wish, accompany you into court. However, the volunteer will sit in the public gallery and will not look or prompt you in any way.
After your evidence
After you have given evidence, the Witness Service volunteer will be available to:
Talk the experience through with you
Explain any jargon
Give you a contact number from which you can find out the result
Refer you to an appropriate organisation should you require on-going support.
Information about Surrey's Witnesses Services can be found in the Contact us section of our website.
