Contact the Supportline
Supportline volunteers give emotional support and information to callers
If you want to talk to someone, call our Supportline on 0845 30 30 900.
Dial 141 to hide your number. Please check with your network provider as this doesn’t work on some mobile networks.
Normal opening hours for the Supportline are:
- 9am - 9pm Monday to Friday
- 9am - 7pm weekends
- 9am - 5pm bank holidays
Please note: we experience a higher volume of calls during the mornings. You may find it easier to call after 2pm.
Calls from landlines to 0845 numbers are charged at a local call rate of 3.5p/min but calls from mobiles are likely to be charged at a higher rate. The charge depends on your mobile phone provider and your contract with them. Victim Support does not get any money from telephone calls. We are currently seeking ways to reduce or eliminate these charges.
If you phone us, the number will appear on your itemised bill. If someone else will see your telephone bill and you don't want them to know you've called the Supportline, you may prefer to use a public telephone or pay as you go mobile.
About the Supportline
The Supportline is our national telephone helpline which handles over 19,000 calls and 4,000 emails a year. The Supportline is there for you to talk about your experience of crime anonymously and in confidence. Supportline volunteers can give you emotional support and information over the phone, or by email, and put you in touch with our local offices and with other organisations that can help you.
We’re just a phone call away and because it's just a phone call, you're in total control of what's happening – you can end the call at any time, and no one needs to know who you are, or where you're calling from, unless you want them to.
Text Relay and interpretation
Deaf and hard of hearing victims can contact us using Text Relay 18001 0845 30 30 900.
The Supportline also has an interpretation service for people who do not speak English as a first language.
Other ways to contact the Supportline
Our Supportline can also give you information by letter and by email. Unfortunately though, they can't give face-to-face support, but they can put you in touch with our local offices which do offer face-to-face help.
The Supportline address for letters only is:
Elephant and Castle Shopping Centre
Our email address is firstname.lastname@example.org. Please see our information on keeping mail safe in the safe website usage section.
If you can't get through to our Supportline
If you’re feeling desperate and need to speak to someone outside of the Supportline hours, or are having problems getting through at busy times, you can also contact the Samaritans on 08457 90 90 90 for the cost of a local call.
Or you can email them at email@example.com
