Our values
As our charity we’ve set out our values. We think this is important to help make sure everyone is clear about what we’re here to do, and how we’ll do it.
If you’re dealing with Victim Support or the Witness Service, you can expect to see our values in action.
Our values are:
- respect
- diversity
- vibrancy & innovation
- commitment & integrity
- quality & continuous improvement.
Respect
When we talk about respect we mean:
- treat other people fairly, demonstrate trust, transparency and honesty
- value and acknowledge every person and the contribution they can make.
Diversity
Victim Support is here to help everyone. We think diversity matters and we value it. To put this value into practice means:
- celebrating and embracing the differences and potential of all members of society
- making inclusiveness part of everything we do and everything we communicate
- making all our services accessible, relevant and inclusive.
Vibrancy & innovation
Victim Support has been leading the way in developments for victims and witnesses for the last 35 years. We aim to continue. This value means:
- have energy, passion and enthusiasm
- make Victim Support ‘the place to be’ – exciting and attractive
- stay ahead of the game
- be agile and creative
- be adaptable and mobilised
- take risks but manage them.
Commitment & integrity
It’s vital that the people we help trust us. This value is about protecting that trust. For those of us who work for Victim Support, this means:
- know yourself, know Victim Support
- be true to yourself and to our cause
- put principles before profit or profile
- keep your personal and Victim Support identities in harmony
- have clarity of purpose throughout the organisation
- demonstrate honesty, openness and fairness.
Quality & continuous improvement
Sitting back on our laurels didn’t make our charity what it is today. We aim to be ambitious and do the very best we can. This means we will:
- achieve the best in everything we do – always for the benefit of victims and witnesses
- be clear about minimum standards
- be driven by quality and continuously seek improvements
- monitor and measure.
If you think we’re not putting our values into practice, we’d like to know. Please use the feedback form on the left to send us more information about how you think we could do better.
