Campaigns

We use the feedback we get from victims and witnesses every day to help develop our policies

Victim Support has been leading the way in campaigning for victims and witnesses since 1974. When we started out 38 years ago, very few were aware that victims and witnesses needed special help – it just wasn't an issue people thought about. Since then we’ve helped around 25 million people to cope with crime and through that we’ve learned a huge amount about how crime affects people, what their views and their needs are.

We use this knowledge and the feedback we get from victims and witnesses every day to help develop our policies – both for how we run our charity and what we believe is right for victims and witnesses. Many of the rights of victims of crime that we now take for granted are the direct result of our campaigns (read our achievements in criminal justice pages for more information).

This section of our website sets out some of our core policies for victims and witnesses. It explains our views and those of victims and witnesses on key issues. These policies also form the basis for many of our campaigns.
